If you wouldn’t put it in your mouth, don’t put it in your hair…

In a recent youtube video I was watching, the girl said an old African proverb says “If you wouldn’t put it in your mouth, don’t put it in your hair.” The context is that the video was about how to wash your hair while it’s in plaited braids and the reason I was watching it is because I now have a full head of braids, courtesy of some fake extensions and three hours at a hair salon in Cape Coast.

Ta da! I don’t think it looks half bad, but feel free to laugh if you want ūüėČ

Our friend Esi told me never to get them wet (no showers, no swimming, etc.), but that just seems unreasonable, not to mention rather¬†unhygienic, so I did a little youtube research and found the video of woman who was all about natural hair care–hence the proverb. I will admit, they’ve been kind of a pain (and an itch) the past few days, but it’s just one more adjustment of many I’ve been making this past month.
